Voici à quoi ressembleront mes semaines pour les 5 prochains mois ... Il me semble facile de rajouter quelques sessions de surf (parce que oui, j'ai enfin pu essayer, et c'est tout simplement orgasmique, même que Ben m'a dit que j'étais forte, pour une première fois) et pourquoi pas quelques longueurs dans la piscine de l'Unicentral et excursions aux alentours, comme dreamworld, festival de Nimbin, festival bluesfest ou les whitsundays. Vous pourrez constater que je n'ai pas cours du vendredi soir au mardi matin, et que la totalité de mes cours fait 12h tout pile. Ca change de l'IUT ! Ce qui est bien ici, c'est qu'on a un laaaarge choix dans les cours et j'ai donc choisi, après mûre reflexion :

Je voulais choisir psycho, mais comme n'ayant pas les bases, j'ai pas le niveau pour prendre ce cours. what a shame ! Je compte aussi faire photographie au deuxième semestre, ainsi qu'advertising campaigns, et puis on verra pour les autres, sûrement axés autour de l'événementiel. Ca sonne bien, non ?
J'ai été très étonnée de voir à quel point cette fac semble organisée. Les profs ont l'air vraiment très "relax" (à prononcer comme sur ma vidéo de skydiving, avec le très bel accent français, SO cute) et font des efforts pour rendre leurs cours interactifs et intéressants. Ce n'est que le premier jour de ma semaine d'orientation, et mes vrais cours commencent lundi prochain. En attendant, je sors et rencontre du monde.
On est déjà les 3 mousquetaires avec Patricia (Suédoise d'origine rwandaise, parlant suédois, anglais et un peu de français) et Justin (Américain d'origine américaine, parlant américain) mais on rejoint souvent Jason, Andy, George, Renée, Rachel, Alli, Niels, Michael, Charline, Kathleen, Daisy, Dr Dré et d'autres. Cette année s'annonce vraiment, vraiment bien.
Par ailleurs, en primaire j'avais les fourmis. Au collège j'avais les vaches. Au lycée je partageais mes cours avec les mouettes, et à l'université j'ai les kangourous. C'est plutôt fun !

- INTRODUCTION TO CREATIVE WRITING
This course introduces basic skills required to be a creative writer. While focusing on the short story, narrative techniques, character motivation, plot, themes, setting and basic editing are taught, as well as writing for particular audiences. The course is taught in a 1 hour lecture and 2 hour workshop format, the latter of which encourages expression of ideas.
- CREATIVE ADVERTISING :
Creative Advertising introduces you to the theories and practices of creativity used in the advertising and communications industries. You will learn about creative theory and conceptual techniques and processes used by communicators to develop idea-based solutions to communication, advertising, and marketing problems. While examining conceptual, written, and visualisation building techniques that underpin the professional practices of copy writing and art direction, you will be introduced to print and digital based mediums currently available to markets and advertisers. A digital-based lecture will be presented each week, followed by practical exercises. The learning approach in this course is student-centred and project-based. All students have sole use of a computer during class time and access outside of class time.
- REALITY BITES : AN EXPLORATION OF NON-FICTION
This course introduces different genres within creative non-fiction writing, including: the tradition of the great essayists; travel writing; science writing; historical fiction; and memoir, biography and autobiography. In addition, the notion of fraudulence is explored in terms of the Australian literary landscape. Concepts such as verisimilitude, believability, and persuasion are explored, as are the lines between the real and the constructed. The course examines the key roles of objective research and subjective identity in the construction of writing.
- LEADERSHIP & TEAM DYNAMIC
This course is designed to be innovative, flexible, practical and student-centred. Students will be challenged to develop their team skills by contributing to the creation of a self-managed learning team charged with collaborative learning about team dynamics. Students will acquire an understanding of various conceptual frameworks covering leadership, team roles and group development as well as recent models of emotional intelligence, emotions management, conflict resolution and group decision-making. In addition they will gain experience with practical techniques for improving their effectiveness in teams. Students will use various diagnostics to assess their own preferred team roles and will have access to videotaping facilities to monitor and analyse their team behaviours. All the assessment for this course is both formative and summative, that is, designed to develop team-related competencies as well as to assess achievement of the learning outcomes. As well as developing their personal and social competencies, this course encourages students to acquire skills in independent learning.

- BUSINESS EVENTS
Business Events are an exciting and rapidly expanding field of interest. The area is traditional known under the acronym of MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions). This course is built upon an understanding of the base body of knowledge, theory and methodology that underpins the conduct modern business events. The course uses case studies and guest speakers from various business event sectors (PCOs, trade exhibition promoters, venues and resort/convention facility providers etc.) to provide a contemporary context for examining best practice in Business Event coordination. While focussing on the tourism aspects of Business Events this course provides a succinct overview of the major stakeholders in the MICE industry and their drivers, particularly in terms of realising ROI (return on investment).
